The Football League Girls Cup competition is a National 6-a-side competition for Under 13 girls. The first stage of the competition begins with a local tournament held by Sky Blues in the Community for Secondary Schools from across Coventry and Warwickshire to participate in. The winning school will then move onto represent Coventry City Football Club at Area, Regional and National Finals (should they progress at each stage). The National Final will take place at Wembley Stadium before the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final towards the end of the season.

This year, the local competition for Secondary Schools will take place on Tuesday 17th November 2015 4:00-6:00pm at Woodlands Academy in Coventry. The two finalists will then proceed to take part in a local final at the Ricoh Arena Stadium on Saturday 21st November 2015 before the Coventry City FC vs Gillingham match. The winning school from this final will then move on to represent Coventry City at an Area Final in Derby against the likes of Nottingham Forrest, Notts County, Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Derby County.

The winners of the Area Final then take part in the Regional Finals with one being staged in the North and one in the South. The winner from the North will then play the winners of the South at Wembley Stadium before the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final.

Last season, President Kennedy School represented Coventry City FC at the Area Finals and narrowly missed out in the final. This year, it could be your chance to represent Coventry City Football Club at Area, Regional and even National Finals! Schools may enter one or two 6-a-side teams (comprising of a maximum of 8 players in each squad).

The Football League understands that the glory of appearing before a National Final is great for everyone involved. However, at every stage, there are some great prizes for schools to win, such as certificates, pennants, medals and trophies, to allow participants to remember their achievement of taking part in one of the country’s largest national football competitions.
