The +Sport Move and Learn Project is a UK in-school programme developed by Ferrero and the Football League Trust. The project is part of Ferrero’s global Kinder+Sport initiative designed to encourage active lifestyles in children across the world and has already reached 15 million children.
Sky Blues in the Community are one of 25 Football Club Community Organisations in the UK and Ireland that are delivering the +Sport Move and Learn project during 2016/2017. This is the third year that the Sky Blues have been delivering the project and have so far worked with 3,687 children at 55 different local schools.
During this academic year, Sky Blues in the Community will be working with 1,800+ children at Primary Schools across Coventry and Warwickshire. Year 5 children from these schools will participate in a 6 week programme that educates them about the importance of a balanced diet and adopting an active lifestyle. Once a week they participate in a theory lesson in the classroom followed by a practical physical activity session.
The programme content has been developed by nutritional and educational and sporting experts in line with the recommendations in the Government’s eatwell guide and its learning outcomes are in line with the National Curriculum for PSHE and Science. The overall aim is to get children moving and learning!
With the support of Coventry City Football Club, some of the local schools involved this year are also benefiting from visits from professional footballers as well as matchday experiences by playing football on the pitch at the Ricoh Arena.
The +Sport Move and Learn project is free to schools in Coventry and Warwickshire. For more information about the project, or to speak to us about delivering in your school, please contact Hiedi Sloan on 024 7678 6314.
