Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund

The Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund is a fundraising initiative in order to provide opportunities to improve the quality of life for those who need it most, in memory of the late Jimmy Hill OBE.

Jimmy Hill played a huge role during his time with Coventry City, a period which saw him take the positions of Manager, Managing Director and Chairman of the club driving the ‘Sky Blue Revolution’ in the 1960s and 1970s.

Jimmy Hill’s success had a huge impact on the city of Coventry and the Legacy Fund will provide a fitting tribute in his memory, supporting a number of causes that were close to his heart.

The causes that will benefit from the Legacy Fund are:

  • To provide activities for children and adults with disabilities (through activities run by SBitC)
  • To provide opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people in Coventry and Warwickshire (delivered by SBitC)
  • Support and increase the activities on match days in the Sky Blues Family Zone (run by volunteers)
  • To provide small grant awards to local voluntary and community organisations

There are a number of ways through which people can donate or raise money. For information on how to raise money for the Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund, please visit the fundraising page.

The Jimmy Hill Legacy Fund will also act as an overriding identity for other charitable giving to the wider community by Coventry City FC and Sky Blues in the Community; for example, boot, kit and equipment amnesties (do be distributed locally and/ or overseas); or the distribution of donated food through various sources.

All aspects of the programme will be managed and administered by Sky Blues in the Community (as a registered charity) and any funds raised will be formally identified in the charity’s audited accounts as ‘Designated Funds’.

A small panel of independent people will meet twice a year to oversee the distribution of some of the funds through small grants to external organisations.
