Sky Blues in the Community

Sky Blues in the Community is formerly a department of Coventry City Football Club, formed in 1993 to deliver football in the community initiatives on behalf of the club.

The organisation became a registered charity in December 2008, financially independent from the club and governed by an independent Board of Trustees; at the same time we are supported by the Football League Trust, which oversees the work of community schemes at the 72 Football League clubs.

The mission statement of Sky Blues in the Community is simply 'To use Coventry City Football Club to positively impact on people within our community'

We do this by delivering projects and initiatives to people of all ages and from all backgrounds across four themes; sports participation, education, health and social inclusion.

Each of our themes has a strategic objective, which helps guide and influence the work we do. Our themed objectives are:

· Sports Participation: 'Increasing opportunities to participate in sport and physical activity for people of all ages and abilities across our community'

· Health: 'Promote an active, healthy and informed lifestyle; contributing to reduced health inequalities within our community'

· Education: 'Provide inspirational learning and personal development opportunities to raise aspirations, attainment and achievement'

· Social Inclusion: 'Develop innovative programmes to promote inclusion amongst disadvantaged and excluded communities'
